Cataract Surgery. It is known that every organ has a great importance in human health. Among these organs, the eye has a great importance. Because the eyes, which are the organs of vision, need to be well looked after. Of course, no matter how careful people are, congenital or later negativities may occur.

Especially in the eyes, the problem of cataracts is extremely common. Patients who have difficulty seeing far and near clearly have blurred vision. As a result, it is essential to have cataract surgery to regain health.

What Does Cataract Mean?

First of all, it is seen that most people do not know or have incomplete information about cataracts. Therefore, it is very important to have accurate information about cataracts. Accordingly, cataract is the loss of transparency of the natural lens in the eye, causing blurred vision.

Visual impairment occurs with the predominance of brown and yellow colorations. Especially advancing age often causes cataracts. Cataracts may be due to advancing age or may be congenital. If we touch on this, congenital cataract is a birth defect that causes visual impairment in the eye.

In other words, cataracts do not occur only in normal life. In some cases, it is possible to have a congenital cataract. Of course, it is known that life will be difficult for people who experience this situation. Permanent solutions should be found by going to surgery as soon as possible.

What Are the Symptoms of Cataract?

  • Inability to see near or far.
  • Visual impairment on sunny days.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Sensitivity to light and intense sunlight.
  • Difficulty distinguishing between colors.
  • Seeing colors faintly.
  • Constantly experiencing eye strain.
  • Difficulty seeing at night.

Causes of Cataract

Sometimes chemical changes are seen in the proteins that make up the lens of the iris, which is responsible for giving the eye its color. This leads to aggregation of molecular weight protein in the eye. Visual disturbances occur when the transparency of the eye decreases.

Details About Cataract Surgery

It is possible to have cataract surgery in many parts of the world. Of course, cataract surgery is performed successfully in many cities in our country, especially in Istanbul. There are even eye surgery packages that offer services such as accommodation and transfers. In other words, there is always a chance to perform cataract surgery in the best way possible.

Cataract is known as an eye problem that can only be treated with surgery. Therefore, having surgery is beneficial in order to eliminate the visual defect. The eye is first examined in detail with a device called an ophthalmoscope.

In this way, the patient’s eye lens can be examined comprehensively. In this way, what the damage is and its level are determined. This paves the way for the surgeon to act with the right steps.

Laser Cataract Treatment

It is possible to have laser surgery for cataracts. In this surgery, the intervention is performed with the latest technology. In addition, this method provides an error-free function in lens positioning. Before the operation, the patient’s eye is anesthetized.

Stitched Cataract Surgery

It is possible with this surgery to prevent the progression and maturation of the cataract. However, this method was more preferred in ancient times. Therefore, there is not much demand for this method today.

Seamless Cataract Surgery

We can say that it is the most standard cataract surgery. Surgeons open the lens capsule in a round shape by making a small incision of 1.8-2.2 mm. The aim here is to place an artificial intraocular lens in the lens capsule. Small incisions indicate no need for stitches.

Healing Process: If old methods are used in cataract surgery, the healing process will be prolonged. However, this period is shorter in new methods. Blurred vision may occur at first. This turbidity will gradually disappear. In addition, you can prevent any problems by following the recommendations of the surgeon who performed the surgery. Complete recovery may take 1.5 to 2 months.
